Visayas Zonal Network for Aquatic and Marine Resources R&D

The Visayas Zonal Network for Aquatic and Marine Resources R&D was established at U.P. Visayas in 1995 to assist PCAMRD in the monitoring and management of Aquatic Resources R&D programs and projects in Regions VI, VII and VIII. The MOA was signed between PCAMRD and UPV as host institution in December 1995, and between PCAMRD and member-institutions in 1996. The network initially involved 20 members of the NARRDS. In 2002, the MOA between PCAMRD and UPV as host institution was renewed, and that between PCAMRD and member institutions. At present, there are 24 members and one cooperating agency.

The Zonal Center held its first planning workshop on November 6-7, 1995 at UP Cebu College, Cebu City. The participants were briefed on the structure and functions of the Zonal Center, as well as the functions of the Zonal Coordinator. Agencies from Regions VI, VII and VIII presented their respective agency plans and programs for 1995-2000. The workshop focused on an integrated zonal R&D, and human resource development plans for the period 1995-2000.
